What Quest collects and why
Your adult email and authentication records support sign-in, recovery and parent notices. A learner profile contains the first name or nickname, learning stage, goals, interests and schedule you provide. Quest saves approved plans, lesson activity, quiz answers, results and your reviews to provide learning and show progress. A learner does not need an email address, birth date, diagnosis, school records or phone number.
Where records go
Quest uses Amazon Web Services in the United States: Cognito for authentication, its database and storage services for learning records, and SES for parent emails. Access controls separate families and learners. Family-learning permission covers internal learning. Learner records are not sent to an external AI provider, used for advertising or sold.
AI and device features
Where lesson drafting is enabled, a parent may request a draft using an unchanged public Quest lesson source. Only that source and its subject go to OpenAI, without the learner’s profile, name, answers, progress or private imported material. Automated checks run before the draft returns; a parent reviews its steps and answer key before approval. Drafts can contain mistakes.
Explain, Example and Practice generate generic help from unchanged public Quest lesson text and a fixed instruction. Learner names, profiles, typed questions, answers and private imported materials are not sent to OpenAI. This help is AI-generated and can be wrong; practice questions are not scored.
A learner may type a question about the current lesson. Quest interprets it within its own service to select a public teaching step or answer a simple calculation. The typed question is not saved or sent to OpenAI. Safe replies and a request receipt are retained with the learner’s activity. Questions that cannot be matched ask the learner to rephrase or speak to a parent.
On supported iPhones and iPads, optional English dictation can turn a spoken lesson question into editable text. It uses the device’s microphone permission and on-device recognition, with no network fallback. Quest does not save or upload audio. The learner reviews the text and chooses Use this text before separately submitting a question. Recording stops after 30 seconds, on cancellation, or when leaving the app or lesson. Typing remains available. Read-aloud uses your device’s installed speech voices.
Open-ended learner AI chat, cloud voice processing, private media uploads, analytics and sharing with other families are currently unavailable.
Parent control and learner access
Each learner needs your learning permission and an approved plan. A linked learner device can open only that learner’s approved activities; it cannot open parent controls, billing or a sibling’s records. Withdraw family permission in Settings to pause learning and disconnect learner devices. You can still review, export and delete saved records.
Review, export and deletion
Use the learner’s privacy controls in Settings to export current records or delete the learner and derived learning data. Deletion removes profile details, plans, answers, evidence, memory and device access from the active database. Use Account to permanently delete your adult sign-in and the learner records in families you own. A fresh sign-in and explicit confirmation are required. Deleting delegated access does not erase another family’s records. If identity deletion is interrupted, the account stays closed to normal use while you retry. Contact Quest for help; do not send passwords or verification codes.
Practice records have the same access controls. Real-family enrollment remains unavailable while its live data and retention workflows are being qualified.

You may ask what information Quest holds, request correction or deletion, or refuse further collection. We verify account ownership before account changes. A material change to the parent notice requires new permission before learning continues.
